Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 887)

This visa enables existing 489 visa holders that have lived for 2 years and worked full time for 12 months in a specified regional area to apply for permanent residency.

To apply for this visa you must:

• be in Australia
• hold eligible visa
• lived 2 years in a specified regional area.
• worked full time for 12 months in a regional specified area
• meet the health and character requirements

Australian Skilled Nominated Visa Application Process

Once you have met the requirements for the Skilled Regional (subclass 887), you can submit your completed visa application for processing by the Australian Government.

A successful applicant is given a 5 years multiple entry visa to live and work in Australia. You only need to live in Australia for a minimum of 2 years to have the visa reissued for a further 5 years. Alternatively, you can spend 4 years in Australia and be eligible for Australian citizenship.

You must be in Australia when you apply for the visa and when a decision is made.
